One service, two locations.

When Central Library opens in 2013, it will be a wonderful, purpose-built showcase and repository for the region's archive and family history. For the first time, we're bringing thousands of the region''s records together under one roof to create an unrivalled collection. That means working in partnership with other archive and family history providers in the region.

Until then, Manchester Local Studies has become part of the new City Library on Deansgate and Central Library's Archive Service (Manchester Archives) has reopened in its new temporary home at the Greater Manchester County Record Office, with its collections joining those of the County Record Office.
