Born in Chiba, Japan. Resides in Tokyo.
Manabu Yamaguchi began creating illustrations around 2005. In 2007 he attended classes at Illustration Aoyamajuku, where he learned the fundamentals of illustration from Hiroyuki Izutsu and Etsuko Sakuta for three years.
In 2008, Yamaguchi was accepted in the digmeout 2008 competition for his paintings in oil pastel. After switching his main media to acrylic, he has been developing his new style in which his figures stand in stark contrast to their respective
backgrounds. Strongly inspired by 90s hip hop and street culture, his work evokes feelings of both disenchantment and loneliness.
