"Black and white photography is sublime when it is accomplished successfully. Such is the case with the work of Amilcar Barca. Vision, composition, capture and post processing are second nature. As is the digital medium. I am a film photographer at heart and old school by nature. Yet I find this work extremely compelling. It reveals the flexibility of the RAW format and the elegance that can be gleaned from the APS-c sensor. Obviously whatever camera was used this photographer could make an artistic statement. I do not know what the prints would be in exhibition but I no longer think that is as important as having the world review your work. I have read each photograph in the stream carefully. The early work in color is promising, however when the road became Black and White their was a transformation of incredible proportion. The determination to craft the vision into exquisite photographs is stunning. I have post processed digital Black and White and it is truly an art form in itself to create satisfying images. Amilcar Barca deserves every accolade I can render. As well, any photographer who has a high standard of excellence will appreciate this body of work.
