I’m Marianne Kasparian and my friends call me “MAK”! I am of Armenian heritage and grew up on the East coast just outside of Washington, DC. The cultures of the world inspire me. I love anything down to earth, funky and eclectic. I graduated from the University Of Maryland In Textile Marketing, attended a metal smith class and many color and design courses. My work with clay began in the early 80’s, but it wasn’t until 2001 that I first fell in love with raku pottery. My main focus has been on raku beads and pendants for my jewelry creations, and for talented jewelry designers to use in their creations. Something about working with my hands has always been a part of me. When people love what I do and one of my pieces evokes a feeling of inner peace and beauty for them…that is when I am inspired.
