Mai S Kemble's photostream

Mai S. Kemble was born in Long Beach, CA in 1981 and raised in Huntington Beach, CA. She graduated from Cal State University, Long Beach in 2005 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration. She received her first children’s book contract with Red Cygnet Press, Inc. in 2006 for The Moon and The Night Sweeper, which she is both the author and illustrator. After it was published in 2007, she was then hired to do the illustrations for a second picture book, Taylor’s Birthday Party, also through Red Cygnet Press, Inc. and due for publication in 2008 (author Hana Khan). She is also a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators (SCBWI) since winning the Illustrator Contest for “Crusin’” in 2007, and was also one of their Featured Artists in 2008. Mai has since been approached by Ambassador Books to work on I Can Speak Bully with author Kevin Morrison. Mai currently lives in Long Beach, CA with her fiance Joshua Kemble (Xeric Grant Winner for NUMB/comic book artist/designer/illustrator) and their pug dogs, C.K. Dexter Haven and Dozer.
