Magnificat Baroque Ensemble's photostream

Magnificat is a San Francisco-based ensemble of voices and instruments that focuses on music of the 17th century. Since 1992, Magnificat has presented a series of concerts in the Bay Area with a repertoire ranging from reconstructions of historic liturgies to staged operas. Under the direction of Warren Stewart, Magnificat has received consistent critical praise for their innovative programming and expressive interpretations. Magnificat has performed many modern premieres of forgotten masterpieces and has taken a special interest in promoting music written by women in the Baroque era. In addition to their own series, Magnificat has been presented by The Berkeley Early Music Festival, The San Francisco Early Music Society, The Seattle Early Music Guild, The Carmel Bach Festival, The Tropical Baroque Festival, Music Before 1800, and The Society for Seventeenth Century Music. They have recorded the complete works of Chiara Margarita Cozzolani for the Musica Omnia label.
