Utata Pool

I'm an expat Canadian living in the US, passionate and artistic, practical yet airheaded, organized yet untidy, and the mother of a fantastically challenging yet delightful daughter.

I don't really have a photographic style, I just try to take creative pictures of people, places and things that capture my interest.

I shoot with a Canon PowershotPro1, a Nikon d70s, and most recently a Nikon d300 using the 18-200mm VR II lens, the 18-70mm stock lens, my trusty 70-300mm zoom or the 50mm/f1.8 - the thrifty, nifty-fifty.

My photostream is really a journey through my many moods. So sit back, grab a drink of choice and enjoy the ride. :)

I love to make new friends, but please - if you add me as I contact or fave one of my photos, I'd appreciate a comment or two so I know what it is about my work that you like! =)

    Violentz says:

"Lordy, this girl knows how to have fun! It was such a surreal experience meeting so many Flickr people this past weekend at a Boston gathering, and Michelle was so much fun to be around! I hope she comes back to Boston sometime soon!"

    Ravages says:

"Michelle's an awesome photographer, great story-teller, loves life and a great friend. Plus, I am guessing here, she's mischevious as hell. Her daughter's face reflects that."

    Only This says:

"Michelle is bursting with life, and that life comes through in her photography. She wants to tell you something wonderful, and she's just bursting with the joy of it. She wants to tell you about love. She wants to tell you about beauty. She wants to tell you about laughter. She wants to tell you how happy life can be, even when it's terrible. She wants to take you by the hand and lead you into her world with a stream of images that tell tales impossible to resist. Her optimism and zest come through in everything she takes, and it's impossible not to enjoy the wave as it washes over you."

    Mary Jane 2040 says:

"Michelle should realise that she's really an explorer in her own environment. She can take pictures of a rusty hood ornament or a water droplet, and infuse them with the excitement of someone discovering an unknown world. She shows you the eyes of her own cherished child as if they are a revelation; a picture that makes you want to look again into the eyes of your own loved ones. This is all the stuff of day to day Western living, but her spirit underlies her photography. She also seems like bloody good company on a rainy day.

Lastly she's the person most likely to say "Anything I can do to help Catherine, just let me know" and then she actually helps too."
