MABEL VALDIVIEZO

Mabel Valdiviezo has been making documentary, narrative and experimental films for nearly ten years and has recently produced a segment for KQED's SPARK arts series profiling Chilean playwright Carlos Baron and Nobel Prize-winning poet and political figure Pablo Neruda. She is the writer of the Canadian documentary MEMORIES OF A DREAMER.

She is developing the feature-length film entitled SOLEDAD IS GONE FOREVER, based on her short of the same name. The short has screened at the Cannes Film Market, Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival, New York International Latino Film Festival and Chica Luna. The feature-length script was a participant in the 2007 Sundance Producer's Conference where Valdiviezo was nominated for the Sundance International Filmmaker NHK Award.

Mabel is a recent recipient of the WIF Emerging Filmmaker Award. She sits on the Board of Directors of the San Francisco chapter of Women In Film and Television and is former Co-Chair of NALIP, San Francisco Chapter. She is a partner in Haiku Films, a media company based in San Francisco. She is developing the romantic comedy PARALLEL LIES with partner Cesar Viana-Teague.

Mabel enjoys photographing slices of life and making digital paintings.
