December 2007 my girlfriend and I decided to leave everything behind in Holland and go for the great unknown. We only had 1 rule, no airplanes. So we took the bus to Barcelona, the boat to Mexico and started traveling around there. We liked it so much we got stuck in Queretaro for about 10 months. After that very nice experience we traveled all the way through Central America by bus and boat. But when we came to Panama and the Darien Gap we had to make a decision, go with a little sailing boat to Colombia or fly. Because the sea was very rough at that time we decided to fly. From Colombia we went further south, lived for almost 2 months in Lima with friends, doing volunteer work for almost 2 months in Santiago, traveled with Maartjes parents for 5 weeks and going to travel with my parents in Argentina. And then... we're probably out of money, so we'll have to find some work in Buenos Aires.

Alright, here's a little update.... After our travels in Latin America for 2 years, Maartje found a really nice job in Manila, the Philippines! So that's where we are now...

Yet another update.. After our 8 months in the Philippines and another 8 months in Malaysia, I found a job as an IT officer on board the National Geographic Explorer, which goes to the Arctic, Africa and Europe and Antarctica! April the 8th I joined the vessel and will stay on for 3 months.
