Until one has experienced the wilderness, a part of one's soul remains unawakened.

Simply put, I have a deep passion for nature and photographing it. I cherish the time that I get to spend in the wilderness, and preserving that time forever, in my photographs. The latest and greatest camera equipment is not what it's all about to me - it is about spending quality time in the great outdoors and the challenge of spending intimate moments with a wild animal or finding a spectacular landscape.

Those who have spent any solitary time on a mountain, know that it is a remarkable, wondrous world of finely detailed beauty and magnificent natural treasures. I hope that my nature photos can convey that to you, as I experience it in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia's Shenandoah National Park.

SNP is like a home away from home for me - I visit it all 12 months of the year. When wildlife activity is at peaks, I tend to sometimes go before the work day starts and also after the work day has ended. It seems that I can never get my fill!

Currently I don't own any high-end camera equipment as I'd like to, I have an old 8 MP Canon Rebel XT and an 18 MP Canon Rebel T2i, with 3 average lenses. The one I use the most is an EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 and if I had known then what I know now about low-light shooting, I'd have went the extra mile and purchased an f/2.8 prime or zoom lens. I'm sure that one of these days I'll own one or two, just don't know when yet.

Most of my shots are hand-held, with the wildlife usually always on the move there isn't enough time to level out a tripod - the window of opportunity is always a small one. Add low-light also to the equation, and you can understand why I shoot a lot at ISO 1600 to compensate for those 2 factors.

My web site address is www.ShenandoahViews.com and quite a few people have asked me why that is, after all I also have a www.LarryWBrown-Photography.com domain (which redirects to Shenandoah Views). Well being that all of my photos are directly related to either the Shenandoah Valley or Shenandoah National Park, I figured my site should be named appropriately, with a title (like a book), so that's what I done and how it came to be :-)

"If you haven't visited Larry's website I encourage you to do so. It not only features some of his photos, but videos as well and all are of superb quality. You can feel his passion for wildlife through his work and reading his captions are not only at times entertaining, but always educational.

His stream is one I always look forward to visiting, and it is well worth the painstakingly wait for each page to load on my slow dial-up account.

Thank you Larry for your compassion for wildlife and photography and for sharing with us!"
