Welcome to my profile!

Please note that my photos are COPYRIGHTED and may not be used without my permission. I AM WAY TOO BUSY THESE DAYS, SO I DO NOT HAVE TIME TO CHECK MY FLICKR EMAIL OR DEAL WITH REQUESTS FOR MY PHOTOS. Sorry for the inconvenience, but photography is just a hobby, and my real job has to come first.

You can view my blog at www.lighthouseladybug.com/ (not that I have time to update that either!)

My longest blog post to date is my adventure at the 2007 New Jersey Lighthouse Challenge. I think it took me longer to write the blog saga than to actually complete the Challenge (LOL)!

A little more about me

I grew up in Memphis, TN, and graduated from Ole Miss (Go Rebels!) in Oxford, MS. I spent many years in Mississippi, where I also attended Mississippi State University (Go Bulldogs!). Now live in Gainesville, FL. I have worked for the University of Florida (Go Gators!) since 1983, which is a Really Long Time.

My passions in life are visiting lighthouses, taking photos of lighthouses, and attending Florida Gator sports events. Running was a passion for a long time, but is on the back-burner now due to injuries and illness. I ran the Disney Marathon in 1997, but I guess my marathoning days are over.

I've been trying to organize my lighthouse photos into one big lighthouse collection, broken down by state. I'm missing Georgia and the Carolinas, since I took them with a 35mm camera. Maybe I will get those digitalized some day! This is my lighthouse collection so far - www.flickr.com/photos/luv2run/collections/72157600949931534/.

A lot of people don't know this, but one of my images is represented by Getty Images. However, I am the subject, not the photographer (LOL). I have front-row seats at the Florida Gator football games, so I get way too much media exposure. I am frequently on TV, and was once on the front page of the Gainesville Sun wearing my silly Gator hat. The ESPN web site also featured my photo a few years ago - check out http://espn.go.com/page2/s/norman/010914.html. Scroll down past Steve Spurrier and Ken Dorsey, and I'm down below them. Cool hat, huh?

My other moment of fame was being an extra in the movie Parenthood, so I can truthfully say that I worked for Ron Howard for a day.

Happy Flickr-ing, everyone!

Donna
