Lurssen Mastering's photostream |
For the better part of two decades, Gavin Lurssen has focused his energies on learning the importance of signal flow: cleaning the chain of unnecessary electronics and amplifiers, digital-to-analog and analog-to-digital technology, and gain structure. These and other sensitivities have been built into the Lurssen Mastering studios to create an environment in which the engineer’s response to any particular style of music is matched with the appropriate equipment needed to get the job done. The studio's electronics path has been carefully connected, serviced, and approved by legendary Los Angeles technician Charlie Bolois. We use state-of-the-art and highly modified solid state and tube audio processing equipment. All processing is done in the analog domain. Digital programs used to capture and to playback include Sonic Studio and Pro Tools (among others). Gavin has routinely worked on albums that were either nominated for or won Grammy awards, as well as numerous albums that made their way onto the Billboard Charts (many reaching 1). In 2002, the first year mastering engineers were included in the "Album Of the Year" category at The Grammys, Gavin was honored in the category for his work on the "O Brother Where Art Thou?" soundtrack. The entire Lurssen Mastering team has also been active over the last several years servicing and supporting independent artists. At this time of transition in our industry, we understand that the emerging independent music scene is a driving force and we are thrilled to participate in it. The team is comprised of the best of the best in the industry. The studio's primary occupants are principal Gavin Lurssen, mastering engineer Gabriel Wallach, mastering engineer Reuben Cohen, and studio manager Raquel Bongiovanni. We pride ourselves in efficiency and unrivaled world-class client service. We believe in balance: as a way to live life and a way to conduct business. Balance applies to everything and in mastering nothing could be truer. Balanced and competitive audio is what Lurssen Mastering provides to all of our clients. We are proud to announce that seven records we worked on in 2007 were nominated in eight Grammy categories with three of them as declared winners.
