2011: I love the start of a new year for Flickr and photography as I think about different possibilities for the new year, and even better shots than the last year. I recently visited the photostream of someone who ONLY had black and white photos, and they were all long exposures. The shots were strong and sharp, and included modern architecture, trees and many subjects. Like a unique and personal style, in 2011 I want to include sets of types of photography rather than a mixture, and I wish to start off January with this technique of black and white long exposure as I have seen many examples of this but I haven't thought about how it's done or the effect it gives.

My name's Luke and I'm from Bristol, England. I'm 16 and I have been interested in photography for a few years, since about 2007. I bought my first DSLR, a Sony alpha a200 in May 2008, and since May 2010, I have been using the Sony alpha a230 because my a200 has broken. In the future I would like to upgrade to a more professional camera, and maybe try a different make such as Nikon or Canon.

I used to take lots of pictures with a basic compact camera, but since buying my digital SLR I have photographed many subjects such as nature, landscapes, birds, and flowers. I have took a range of photos that are wide-angle and close-ups/macros.

My 2009 photos range from landscapes, animals, long/short exposure experiments, and black and white photography. By 2008 I was interested in photography as a hobby and by 2009 I was more interested in Flickr than before, trying to capture a variety of subjects to reflect their nature in an artistic way, unlike the occasional 'snapshot.'

2010:
I started the year with shots at Blaise Castle, which by now is probably a well-known area by my regular Flickr visitors and contacts. I have become more interested in black and white photography, as before I thought it was pointless without the use of colour. Also, I used more digital editing to increase atmosphere in my photos and used lots of unusual digital techniques, like keeping a London bus red in a B&W shot.
Over 2009 and 2010 I have made many of my shots look dramatic and unreal maybe, but I like to make my pictures look different.
I went on holiday in April to Dawlish, Devon where I have a set of shots, and in August I went to London. (See sets.)

I currently study A-levels including Photography at Filton College, Bristol, UK.
