i tend to lean towards quiet...i like to listen. though sometimes i feel like i say
too much and not enough all at once.

i fell in love with photography years ago. i hold a camera in my hands everyday. i crave the quiet sadness and the otherwise unnoticed beauty that a photograph can share with you. photography makes me feel alive and aware. i see more clearly, listen more carefully, live more passionately.

care less

i love the smell of rain. and words.

most importantly, it is NEVER too late to give up your prejudices. '

"How is it possible that I've never done this before?

Katie, sweet, warm, creative, loving, quiet, beautiful Katie. When I think of Katie, I instantly become calm. She evokes a rush of feelings in me that is, at times, indescribable. Her images, her words, the love she has inside....amazing. She amazes me daily with her gift of motherhood (she is raising the next world leader), her support, and love in her family and friends. A true, fine inspiration.

"Katie has inspired me from the moment i stumbled into her magical world here. the words that she matches some of her photographs with are so perfect. if you even needed the evidence of her humongo level of intelligence, look no further than her handle on prose. another in the group of moms that makes me want to be the best parent ever, having seen evidence of the love that she shares with her child. her ideas behind the artform of the diptych stand as some of the best i have seen. i thrive to be able to capture the world in a way even half as pleasing and real as Katie does. seeing what amazing photos she has taken of herself, it makes me anxious to see her shoot some other people and work her magic touch that way as well some day.

such a giving and generous woman… her talents outnumber her freckles! wait… i know you might think that is not possible, but it is SO true. i have done a full tally on both and talent won out. i think that was when i passed out a couple of times from the sheer intoxication of her freckles. sometimes i may exaggerate… but that is not one of them. (proud to be a part of The Fantasmagoric Foursome) *hugs and kisses*"

katiedid is so inspirationally beautiful...mind and body. an artist. a co-conspirator of giggles. a glimpse into the kind of person one SHOULD be, but rarely IS."

"This girl just keeps getting better. She's learning from her mistakes and continually moving forward. Always she has nice words to say when they need to be said, and is never afraid of seeking advice.

A little bit of necessary flickr 'sexiness' is present, to spice up her stream, but it isn't too audacious and never tasteless.

I come here quite a bit, just to hang around."

    TRICK64 says:

"I've been procrastinating so much on
what I'd ever write about my friend LuckygirlLefty.
It's kinda hard to put into words her effect on me.
Every thing you could imagine in a friend or buddy for me, she fills.
    She's a listener, an observer,
    her own toughest critic.
    However, she's also a perfectionist
with her thoughts, her comments, her photo's,
her wacky sense of humor that only those who know her
make you love her even more.
She struggles with questions internally that we all battle with.
    The difference with her is
that she can communicate the most inner
thoughts with such clarity that it's mind boggling,
and will lay them out so publicly,
that we all sense a connection with her

    "Always making me smile
You have changed my faith in people,
    Forever I hope you stay.

Inside jokes and all the laughter
Will live on for years after
As they play a huge part of our friendship.

    Our stories are small,
    Some have to transalate
For the words we make our own.""

    ""No Clouds"....

Was the first photo of Katie's that I found...found it in explore. I thought it was so creative and clever...I have been amazed and inspired by her creativity and cleverness ever since.

Katie has a great talent. She's got that artistic eye for finding the interestingness in everything...even the mundane...AND she is cool and kind. I am grateful and lucky to have found her."

    Sharon Lapkin says:

"I don't remember how I found Kate's photostream, perhaps from following a link -- or maybe I saw one of her photos on Explore -- but from the moment I did, I knew I'd found somebody very special. You see, Kate is one of Flickr's treasures. In a few tiny centimetres of online space, she can bring tears to your eyes, or make you think about what is really important or simply make you smile. She is a poet and an artist and an intensely spiritual human being who has the ability to touch the lives of others in profound ways.

Whether she uses her own words or those of other writers, she knows exactly what to say and how to communicate it. And the fact that she doesn't own a fancy camera doesn't inhibit her talent or the development of her skills. She plays with light and shadows and composition in a way that makes you gasp. That's because Kate is a communicator and the type of person who could write poetry on the insides of her shoes if that was all she had.

When I visit Kate's photostream, I never know what I'll find, but I do know that I will be touched somehow by something I find there. I want to thank Kate for sharing a part of herself with me through Flickr. I treasure this beautiful and inspiring gift and am so proud to call her my friend."

"I don't know Kate at all, not in the sense that we've ever met, had a cup of joe and told each other small lies... but all the same, I've seen her cups of coffee/tea, they're full of clouds like Mayakovsky's pants. Her photos are not just images, they're not allegorical, they're a kind of soft song, a poem, a mnemonic device to help you remember that in every corner of a dusty world there is, as Cohen sings, a crack [in everything] and if you look hard enough into [her photos] and the crack in general, you might just see a shaft of light..."

"I have a much better camera than Katie, I have an expensive Nikon flash, and I have some really great lenses .....still, Katie does things with her little point-and-shoot that make my camera equipment want to leave me and go live with her. Katie possesses the ability to express her emotional connection with her enviroment through her pictures and her encyclopedic knowledge of lyrics and great poems and quotes. Coolest of all, she integrates her camera finesse and her poetic skills and creates beautiful and emotional compositions that are always moving. Katie is not afraid to reveal herself to people who are willing to look a little closer ...she really is amazing."

"Katie's photography and words are consistantly honest and a joyful expression of life. It is one of three "streams" I check everytime I log on. She has a wonderful eye for composition and shows a strong understanding of the use of color.

She makes me smile on a regular basis and really what greater compliment can you give."

What a talent Lucky is, and she's the classic example of someone who has the heart, soul and eyes to create wonderful pictures, whatever equipment she chooses to use - if she ever decides to go DSLR she'll be Dangerous!

And I like her taste in music!"

"luckygirllefty is an aspiring "photographer". I have noticed her stream mature from basic shots to complete compositions with a unique touch. She is able to collect the black and white moments when they should be b&w and the subtle and striking qualities of color . luckygl is on the right path to presenting great images."

"Katie's photo's have the perfect combination of beauty, innocence & whimsy. She has quite a diverse collection of images. Her self portraits are just lovely and the black and white's classic. Her landscapes are also breath taking.

Her photo's of children are especially sweet and endearing and show a true love for the subject. I always look forward to seeing her latest photos as they give an insight into her life and the world around her. It's wonderful to see the world through her eyes."
