I am a creative person attracted to all forms of art.

I was born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico. I have lived in several parts of Mexico, in England and a few cities in the United States. My husband and I currently live in the Navajo Indian Reservation in Northern Arizona. We moved here right after a 5 year stint in Baltimore, Maryland.

I have a degree in foreign language teaching and graduate studies in humanistic psychology (human development). My most recent job was as a medical Spanish interpreter in a big hospital in Baltimore. However, one of my big passions is and has always been creating, making things, tinkering with the old to give it a new life. I can spend hours in the crafts section of a library or bookstore, getting ideas and inspiration. Learning about new ways I can make "stuff".

As a child I used to work with scraps of fabric from my mom's craft closet and whatever unwanted objects I found around the house. I'd make little things for dolls and trade them with my classmates for other girly things they had to offer in exchange. Several people in my family are and have been wonderful artists and creators. I am sure the creative energy is in my genes. My mom is currently creating, among the many other things she makes, decorative pillows. Her new flickr catalogue is: www.flickr.com/photos/lucyromero

I strongly believe we must stop producing and consuming the amount of new materials and objects we do now. We have more than we need! Following that belief, each new item I create is born from the desire to see things that are not wanted anymore, many times considered dull and useless, transformed into something beautiful that has a new purpose. What I do is a living meditation. Every time I complete an object with materials that were stagnated or were about to become part of pollution, I feel I am helping to preserve life. Every new creation fills me with joy and a sense of belonging. When I give away or sell the things I create, I hope the recepient is able to experience some of that joy.

All my creations are hancrafted by me alone in my home studio during precious hours off work and off house chores. I look forward to my "free" creative time every day.
