I've always had a camera in my hand, but I'm not a photographer, more of a snap shotter. I got my first dslr ( a Canon EOS 450D) about a year ago (free, thanks to Airmiles) but we still aren't good friends yet.

I feel oddly close to the people that I've "met" on Flickr. Everyone is so supportive and helpful with a rookie.
I'm both inspired by and intimidated by the photos that I see here. I've laughed out loud, I've been moved to tears and I've been left shaking my head wondering how the heck they managed to get that shot...

My golden retriever, Taz, is the love of my life and my usual model. She's the only one that doesn't make a face or leave the room when I point a camera at her.

My husband of 20+ years and I have done a lot of travelling together and we plan to do a lot more, so I need to learn how to use this camera so that I can get more than the usual "we were there" shots.
