"A reflection of an exact image is the closest thing to you-so that you can see it-but it's far enough away so that you really understand it. There is real life in this movie, but it hovers just an inch above reality."
Wes Bentley

I started a group called Find-Me.

I like to set scenes and point and shoot.

Comments and other feedback on my photography is most welcome and appreciated. But please note: *I do not view flickr as a dating site.* I block low-quality pervs and people with poor boundaries.

Please, do not reuse or repost my photos or information for without asking for my permission first. If you reblog anyway, please link back to my stream. Be classy. Thanks.

I'm also on tumblr and have a portfolio site.

Thank you for your attention and interest.

Artist Statement

What I hope to make plain in my work is that the self has both an inherent integrity and multiplicity. It is challenging to recognize integrity – or consistency – co-exists with multiplicity. Through self portraiture I can see clearly that my self is not something that can be known because it is a dynamic being and a creative aspect that changes as it is experienced. My self portraits are an exploration of self, not only my own self but the collective definition of self in social context. I use props, imagination, and memory to question the definitions that have been handed and applied to me. My goal is not to make a political or religious statement as those are definitions and, as such, restrictions of self. My goal is to show the way the self transcends all definition, regardless of how I or others may try to constrain, expose, or contain it.

It is often frightening to stare meaning down and watch it dissolve. I hope that people who see my work can benefit from the ways I have worked to overcome my own fears and tendency to look away. It is not easy when so much of society is geared to generating and gaining meaning and status to keep the inevitability in the front of your mind: that our bodies have functions and requirements we must meet and, no matter how well we do, the body will age and die. Yet, this is the one truth we are given with no uncertainty. I cannot look away from that truth. Unfortunate as it may seem, death is a kind of freedom in that there will be no permanent damage done here. The self is always dying. The self is always being reborn.

    Julian Baker says:

"Simply the best artist exploring nudity and identity.

In eighteen months with her cinematic ability to reinvent herself Ms Stone has produced an astounding body of work.

Never resting on a tried idea. We realise that even if we decipher half the allusions presented in one of her images, there lies encoded a deeper layer, as if thoughts from the artist's psyche waiting to rise nearer the surface in future works."

"i don't usually write these but i think Sarah deserves one.....Sarah's creativity & execution leaves no stone unturned and displays a high degree of intelligence. I always get excited when i see a new upload from Sarah which is the sign of a true artist. I just hope Flickr don't reject what is essentially pure "art". S x"
