I've been interested in photography for a long time and it was sealed when my brother introduced me to his darkroom - it was just magical, watching the images gradually emerge on the paper. However, I didn't get on with manual focus (an old Zenit) and switched to a Nikon (F801) and AF lenses as quickly as I could. Only discovered afterwards that it was about as heavy as they came, but I grew to like the solidity too. Took me a long time to go digital (Nikon D80, as I wanted to continue using my lenses). I consider myself more of a portrait photographer than landscape - I can see and admire them but find it very hard to capture them. Everyone in the Leeds group has been extremely welcoming and very informative. I'm feeling motivated again after a long break and look forward to the weekly challenges, which are really making me think hard and go out there and grab shots.
