Born August 1952, Chicago, Illinois USA as first-born and only daughter to Gustave and Kathryn Dallas. (a/k/a Karen Dallas Gnatz and/or Karen Dallas Hartig). I had three brothers, Mark, David, and Scotty. We lived next to Lake Michigan in the area called Rogers Park, Chicago, then moved to a large, lovely Victorian house in a small area of *Andersonville* or sometimes called incorrectly *Ravenswood* i.e., 'Lakewood-Balmoral,' a/k/a 'Mini Wilmette,' Chicago 60640.

If you went to any of these schools and remember me (or my brothers, the Dallas boys) with my maiden name, Karen Dallas (E Field Grammar in Rogers Park, Chicago, Trumbull Grammar in Andersonville, Chicago, Senn HS, Chicago and/or Central YMCA HS, on LaSalle in Chicago), Karen Gnatz (UIC) or Karen Dallas Hartig (DeVry Institute of Technology on Campbell, Chicago), PLEASE write to me!

I was a fine arts major at Senn HS for two years in the early 1960s. I talked them into allowing me to spend my Study hours in the studio and it was great to paint and think with nobody else in the room.

My first boyfriend, Don Rhodes, the only biker in that vast edifice known as Senn HS, drove a Harley and he became the chief engineer for WYCC and then moved with his wife and his Harleys to Tucson, AZ, where he was the chief broadcasting engineer for the U of A. We looked like Mutt and Jeff--he was so TALL! He died in 2008. Pamela and I, best galfriends even since Field school, were the only Mods in the school. We both left after sophomore year and went to Central YMCA HS in downtown Chicago, a far more suitable environment for general misfits and we, of the artistic bend. She's in Indy and if you are looking for her, email me. HOW I WISH I KNEW IF ALL OF OUR CLASSMATES AT CENTRAL YMCA, SUCH A SMALL ALTERNATE HIGH SCHOOL, ARE ALIVE AND WELL!!!

I chose to marry Steve Gnatz, MD and make my only child with him, Christopher Robin Gnatz, born June 1970. Steve was a professional photographer before he was an MD. We lived in the ultra-liberal Hyde Park area on the south side of Chicago near the lake--specifically, near 'The Point'--as well as where the Museum of Science and Industry, one of the smaller buildings of the Columbian Exposition, which had opened in 1893 and from whence Barack Obama comes. I stayed in Hyde Park with our son for two years after our divorce in 1974, then moved back to the north side with CR, where we lived in the DePaul area before my brother Mark died in August 1977. Whereupon, I went back to our family house in 'Lakewood/Balmoral.' From there, I went into the medical sciences at UIC.

I married again to John Hartig, Jr. in 1980, getting divorced in 1998. We were SO MUCH in love, but we did not see the dysfunction and blew up like Mt St Helen's in our house on Dickens in the hood known as 'Bucktown' in Chicago. Such a shame! He currently resides out in Los Angeles.

In the mid-1970s I was pre-med at UIC, then I *fell into* real estate sales, eventually becoming a broker, consultant, and generally an expert in the field. Now I own my own real estate corporation, but I myself specialize primarily in tax-deferred exchanges all over the USA, or investments just because I like it. IF YOU ARE AN OLD CLIENT, PLEASE DO, DO, DO WRITE TO ME!!!

Since I had a bad accident and was laid up for some time, I have not traveled much over the past two years on business and spend a lot of time writing essays, along with my favorite genre, humor. I AM genetically humorous--my family is fascinating to say the least.

LIFE IS SHORT. TIME IS OUR MOST PRECIOUS COMMODITY. I HAVE A GOOD LIFE, AND MY UPBRINGING WAS SIMPLY GREAT. I AM ONE LUCKY LADY. YES, IF YOU KNOW ME, PLEASE WRITE.

I so often wonder what happened to my fellow artistic misfit students at Central YMCA HS who I graduated with over at the Prudential Building auditorium in June 1970--one was on the cover of Time Mag at the time of the Democratic Convention in Grant Park, standing on a statue holding a flag, his long hair running down his back. I wonder where he is, I wonder where so many of you are: some of you took too many drugs... Are you all right? Is Ed Okon to be found anywhere out there (you lived with Steve and I in Hyde Park near UC).

I've traveled and lived in many places in the world but have much more to see before I croak. Just get ahold of me! I miss you! Here is the best and of course, most constant, free, email addy: nothoughtpolice@gmail.com.
