"Believe it or not, there was life in San Jose before Silicon Valley. This area has a rich history that runs deeper than the latest, greatest gadget or mirrored building and Josh Marcotte is committed to preserving it. Armed with only a camera, Marcotte takes to the streets to document the fading and slowly crumbling buildings, landmarks, signage and structures of the San Jose of old for a photo project that he refers to as Lost San Jose. Now 10 years and several cameras into the project, Marcotte is creating a visual tribute to what he calls a city that’s hidden, overlooked and unwanted.”

--Metro Silicon Valley. Best of 2011 Issue.

Lost San Jose is insomnia, trespassing and a Camera. It’s a eulogy for my dying neighborhood. It's views of a city that's hidden, overlooked and unwanted. It’s a stroll through history and a hope to connect to places and things long neglected.

Lost San Jose is writer, photographer and life long San resident Josh Marcotte. For over a decade Josh has documented the city of San Jose. Josh’s photos have appeared in the Metro, The San Jose Mercury News, The Willow Glen Resident, and various local Patch.com sites. He has also had several solo and group shows in various galleries and shops through out San Jose. Beyond San Jose Josh seeks to find what’s overlooked and neglected right in front of our eyes and beyond the main streets and districts of the places he travels to, dragging history into the light.
