I have been interested in photography my whole life. My dad took B&W, processed the film and prints, and then shot lots color transparencies. My neighbor let me use his darkroom when I was in high school. I took art and photo classes in college while studying mechanical engineering. I worked as a machinist, Peace Corp volunteer in Chile for three years, self-unemployed coppersmith, installer and designer of solar thermal water heating and radiant floor systems, HVAC testing and balancing tech, CNC machinist, AutoCAD drafter, mechanical designer for commercial aircraft avionics systems and IPC (Illustrated Parts Catalog) writer for business jet interiors. I am now a retired sudo-Buddhist backwood bohemian living in a RUSTIC cabin near Mount Hood, Oregon who survived the 60s. Flickr is one of my main social interactions besides our five string band (actually there are 27 strings to keep in tune). I play the acoustic string bass, log my own firewood, have a small metalworking shop and keep very busy staying quite comfortable (which takes a lot of work up here in a rain forest at 1800 feet/550 meters). My only complaint in life is the lack of broadband Internet. I am too far out for DSL or cable and have too many tall Douglas firs, hemlock, maples and alders for satellite. Posting and viewing on flickr is tedious at 25 kps so if I comment, please appreciate.

Other interests include mountaineering (limited to the foothills now), driving the back roads, eclectic movies, repairing mechanical & electrical stuff, aviation, aircraft and maintaining my computer systems.
