"YOUR OWN photography is never enough. Every photographer who has lasted has depended on other people's pictures too---photographs that may be public or private, serious or funny, but that carry with them a reminder of community."
-----------------------------------------(Robert Adams, 'Why People Photograph')

................................................................................................
Street photography is my real passion although I have pursued it in a serious and sustained way which I hope will give it a documentary value and will offer something to other members of the community.
Particular aspects of city experience such as Consumerism or Cafe Society have been developed beyond the Briggate project. My two "City of Women" sets (set 1 and set 2) were inspired by the excellent flickr group of that name. The Intimacy of Strangers was similarly inspired by a flickr group.

"When he's photographing he's hardly there. Yet everywhere. The lightest of touch, the quickest of eye. Amazing."

"Mr. Lloyd is my first internet teacher in photography. He has an excellent eye and the thing that made me "love" him is also that he is very supportive to young photographers like me. Keep teaching mr. Lloyd."

"No need to mention Briggate.com has a good eye for photography, but what amazed me was his shooting style! Some photos are taken by holding his camera with one hand and shooting without looking at the viewfinder: The result is very unique and extraordinary!
Since I found this before my eyes, I can't help imagining how he took photos when I see his photostream. I was totally inspired by his style of taking photos, like snapping photos of bystanders at Briggate while dancing along the music and he greets and shoots the musician as well...
Shooting with confidence, respect and passion, this is how I describe Briggate.com!"11th August, 2007

Cybergabi says:
"Lloyd is exceptional in so many ways. He has a great eye and an immensely quick grip of situations, people, compositions and light conditions out there in the city jungle - which makes him one of the finest street photographers and candid portraitists on flickr. Apart from that, he's proven to be a wonderfully perceptive and effective teacher, a passionate yet helpful critic, a great real-life photographic model, a never-ending source of inspiration and motivation - but, most of all, a truly wonderful soul, a warm, generous and loyal friend. One of the very best photographers, and people, on flickr. I'm immeasurably lucky to have stumbled on him already in my very early flickr days, and not merely having crossed his path, but having been able to go along - constantly learning and growing, constantly being moved by watching his own projects develop, constantly treasuring him.
Keep it up, Lloyd. All of it."25th June, 2007

Dan Sumption says:
"Lloyd's endless invention, his development and exploration of new photographic projects, never fails to throw up interesting results. He produces great photos with a contemporary street aesthetic, always interesting on several levels, and he documents some of the vital but easily overlooked minutiae of modern life. Most importantly for me, his photos always make me think.
He is also very supportive of other photographers, without being in any way pushy, and his support is much appreciated."4th March, 2007
