Hello. I live in the UK and I love being surrounded by the countryside - I'm not a city person; although I used to be when I was younger. My dream is to own a big smallholding (or small farm) in Canada, and I'm working towards that goal so I can emigrate in a few years. I'm a vegetarian who eats very little dairy produce, and I don't wear/use animal products or leather, etc. I've always sought to live in an ethical way and to make considered choices. I'm completely opposed to Greed (with a capital 'G'), which I guess most people would call 'consumerism'; though Greed is a step beyond. I love Life very much. I have a Green heart. I'm hooked on pursuing a sustainable, self-reliant, self-sufficient lifestyle that's simple and natural - though I don't believe anyone needs to give up their home comforts to live that way, and it's not my intention to deny myself a good happy comfortable life. I adore dogs and would also love to be in a position where I have the land and funds to open a really good dog shelter, where they (especially oldies) could live happily permanently if new homes couldn't be found. I don't like cats and cat owners who let their pets walk on the kitchen worktops, etc. Otherwise I like all animals and find them fascinating. I like writing both stories and factual articles. I like SF films and I hate 'Chick Flicks'! I'm very much into pursuing home handicrafts, making furniture, and building things from wood, mud, or straw - ideally everything I like to make or craft uses recycled materials or stuff found in nature - got to say though that I'm no expert and that nothing I make/craft would win prizes; I'm just a keen 'trier'! I can't stay indoors all day and I HAVE to get out into the countryside whatever the weather with my dogs to refresh my head. I like unconventional people and unconventional ideas - I've always thought these were much more interesting. Most of my time is taken up by writing, research, and working as the manager of a new registered charity that's concerned with Green issues. At the moment I don't have much time to spare for doing other things I enjoy, such as art, crafts, making glass jewellery, photography (and Flickr), or socialising; I hope that within the next few months I'll get on top of my work schedule and will find more 'me' time - but I seem to have been aiming for that for years! In September I'm going to university again to try and gain a postgraduate degree to help my work and emigration status. I hope that during the Summer before I go there I'll have lots of free time to just kick back and have fun - I'd like to get to a Green festival and go camping.
