Mack Hill Farm on Facebook

I take snapshots, lots and lots of snapshots. I like to document our life. We had a house fire in 1996, lost everything but no one, which I am very grateful for. Ever since, though, I take many, many pictures.

We are new to farming -- we waited until the kids went to college, and then spectacularly flunked empty nesting.

My goal is to have a dairy, primarily a sheep dairy, but I also want some cows.

We have Icelandic sheep, Icelandic chickens, Chantecler chickens, Percheron horses, Tamworth pigs, an American Milking Devon cow, Toulouse Geese, Saxony ducks and Midget White Turkeys.

I am often asked if I sell my fleeces, and of course I do. You can reserve the fleece on the hoof as well. I also sell roving. I am teaching myself to spin using that right now. It is really easy to spin -- you barely have to draft at all, and it is nice and strong yarn.

I have a farm journal at www.mackhillfarm.com. We've been writing Notes from Zone 4 since early 2000.

I also cook, three meals a day for the both of us. I aim to make it as healthy as it can be, and rarely buy processed foods at all. I am trying to grow as much of our food as I can. I am having a love affair with my Fiestaware dishes, and enjoy taking pictures of our meals.

I keep getting asked how old I am, so I figure I will put it here. I was born in 1965.

    Jean&Vic says:

"to catch a day in the life of Lisa, and her home (hubby often included), simply stop by to take a look at her photos. If it is the right time of day, you will see the barn yard, the right time of evening , a meal, or the right time of year, harvesting of, well, something from their farm. It is a slice of life from the east side of the USA (particularly the frozen north), in a home spun way, stop and look for a minute, you will be happy you did (especially if you like to look at food)- Vic"
