Railroad nut since about 2 yrs old, steam, steam fan trips, memorabilia, abandoned railways/equipment, Lionel, HO, even American Flyer...oh yes, and in my spare time I drive a racecar.
Having said all of that...through out my life, I have had the opportunity to ride on a number of steam fan trips or steam railroad operations. My wish is that I could have had someone capture the first one. I got to ride the very last scheduled B&O passenger train through Dunbar Pennsylvania to Uniontown. That was in the early 50's. We boarded the train in Dunbar at the old B&O station(there is a pic in my photostream) and detrained in Uniontown. Believe that station still exists. The Durango and Silverton has always fascinated me. The first set of pictures labeled Colorado are fronm a trip that covered the Narrow guage loop, Denver, Alamosa, Salida, Chama, Durango, and back across the top of Colorado to Denver again with side trips. That trip whet my appetite and I took about 5 more to Colorado. I hate that Southern discontinued their steam program, I loved those trips and took many the pix that will be forthcoming. But then again, there is no more Southern. Or PRR
My Grandfather worked for the PRR, he was the freight agent in Dunbar, Pa. I have inherited all of his old railroad artifacts including his retirement items. I also have all of his pay stubs, my grandmother was a bit of a packrat. He also new everyrailroader i nthe area and we would walk through the BoWest yards every pleasant sunday after lunch for as long as I can remember.
Racing seems to be in my blood also, almost as long as my being a railroad nut. I have crewed for a number of people, and now build my own racecars. The ones you see photos of I built. Datsun built some of it, the rest was done by me all of the engine, suspension mods, the roll cage. It is number 4, the first three met some rather untimely demises. I started racing in college, I had a summer job and one of the guys there had a 46 Ford with a flathead V-8. OH BOY, I conned him into letting le drive. My parents would have @#$% had they known. All it did was want to make me want to race more. I have been involved in it ever since. I started racing my own cars in 1989, I still do!
Ya'll out of luck now, I got a scanner that allows me t oscan negatives, so you are stuck with all the good negatives. I won't bore you with the others. Just found the ones from Korean Stema. Lots are in black and white. Stay tuned!
