~Perfect Petals~


My father was an avid photographer. He collected antique cameras and developed his own photographs. The smell of "hypo" was familiar to me, and I knew what that little red light outside the door meant. I hated all of it!

I didn't like being on guard all the time because Dad loved to catch us unaware. I just hated that. I didn't like waiting for photographs to "dry," and then to be handed a photograph that rolled up in my hands instead of being flat.

And then came digital photography! I inherited a camera from my husband when he wanted a new one. I shopped for a new camera bag and a cute little case to hold my memory sticks. I attempted to read the manual, emphasize attempted, and then I went to the backyard.

Click, click, click....ohhh, this is fun.....cllick, click, click.... inside again, insert stick and VOILA! I fell in love. There on my Mac were the seeds of my interest in photography.

Dad, I only wish you had lived long enough to see my photographs. I would love to sit with you and "talk shop." However, in a way you are here. I have photographs of you, of us. We are frozen in time, no older and no younger, smiling together.

Photographers, all of us, are time keepers. We freeze bits of time, memories of good and bad, and they are ours forever.

Hmmmm, I think Dad knows........................
