Jacques D’Azur (May 13th, 1939 – 2010) French film producer/director/actor/tennis player/chess master/ backgammon champion/waterskiing pioneer and full time bon-vivant known for his work on the red carpets and swimming pools of the French Riviera.

Jacques D’Azur became a legend of Cannes, and with the years his legend grew. Many famous film stars appearing at the festival for their first time were eager to get Jacques autograph. It was said he was the movie star’s movie star. Relatively unknown beyond the Riviera and the playgrounds of the world, his notoriety failed to travel and is only now beginning to be appreciated. On his increasing mainstream respect he once said “Its not that I was ahead of my time, its just that everyone else was behind mine”.

Jacques was flying to his Tahiti home, one of the many homes he has in the playgrounds of the world, where he set sail on his yacht ‘Bridgette et Anna’. The last reported radio contact from him was the message “I have come across an undiscovered island. Amazingly all the inhabitants are beautiful women” his location could not be determined. No further contact was made with him and the extensive search found no sign of Jacques or his yacht.
