A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.
I have just begun taking photos in April of 2008. I am starting to lean towards nature photography, now that I have been shooting for a year. I find that I am most inspired when walking by the lake, ocean, in the forest or in fields. I am heavily inspired now by the works of three amazing Flickr photographers:
Alonso Díaz - Master of ultra-wide lenses and Cokin Filters.
Maltilde B -Amazing scenic photographer.
Philippe Sainte-Laudy - Stunning nature photographer.
Who am I?
I am a Middle School teacher and amateur photographer. Got the new camera and glass for my birthday in April (2008). Have been shooting non-stop ever since - 500-1000 photos a week on average. I tend to stick to nature shots (especially with the 10-20mm glass), but I am pretty much all over the board when it comes to subjects (graveyards, buildings, my kids...) I tend to take most of my shots by the lakes in my area, or I drive down to the coast of Maine now and again for some dramatic ocean shots. My other favorite place is up north in the White Mountains (only about an hour from here). Can't wait to get out to somewhere new!!

Getting the hang of post-processing now with Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Adobe Lightroom 2.3. I used to do a ton of work, cropping, curving, coloring, etc. But now, I try to shoot straight from the lens and only use PS to light-curve and white balance (as I only shoot in RAW).

"I have to say I was quite surprised to read that Raymond has only been into photography Since April of Last year, the quality of his work is top notch, especially his landscape work, and has some amazing shots using Cokin filters that has inspired me to try go out and order some and experiment.
In addition he is such a supportive flickrite and am glad to have him as a contact"
Daniel Wischnewski says:
"Raymonds photos are one of a kind. He gives them a touch of love and professionalism, I just adore. His stream is at the top of my collection.
I have only one bad thing to say about Raymond: he does not upload a photo per day ;-)"
thebudman623 says:
"I absolutely love the photos you take. You truly have a photographers eye. Each and every photo is just as nice as the one before. I enjoy looking at your photos because i can relate to them being from Derry also.As beautiful as the places are that you take pictures of, your photos make them look just that much nicer.Keep up the great work Ray. Hopefully someday i'll be half as good as you are with a camera."
Pentax Penny says:
"Ray has only been into photography since April this year!! =O
He has to be a genius, by my calculations. His grasp of all things photographic is astounding, and his work is sensational!
Not only that, he's such a nice guy! Really, really nice!
It's an honour to know this lovely man, and see what amazing work he does.
( I also love his little dog, Penny.)"
Kaye1963 says:
"I have become his biggest fan. His photos are amazing and his talent is there to see. Just look. He is also a born teacher. Without his help (many im's) I would never have come close to understanding HDR. Thanks"
Natstravers says:
"Thanks for visiting my gallery, you have wonderful pictures out there..bravo!!"
Red Branch Photography says:
"To rank him as an amateur seems rather unfair. I've seen professional work that isn't even in the same league. He has the eye for photography without a doubt, and I'm one of his biggest fans."
