"Refined Brutality – a description I wish I came up with"
I find these blurbs about yourself tedious and incredibly difficult to write. I find you always sound pompous, pretentious or incredibly self centred and arrogant that you feel embarrassed re-reading it in the privacy of your own home. So all that aside I will attempt to not bore you senseless or sound too absurd. Although I can't make any promises.
Faces, figures & furious brush strokes make up my paintings. A constant evolution of style and technique is evident throughout my work that I have no intention of stopping. I concentrate primarily on the human form and to create deconstructed images of people. The end result is a slightly haunting image that I must admit is an acquired taste.
I began painting the year I graduated from a design degree; 2006 I believe. I wanted to spend my spare time throwing paint at canvas and seeing what happens Often a right mess with one or two gems in there. This approach of throwing paint did lose me a few deposits on flats throughout the following few years. Before I took up painting I would draw all the time. All the way through my child hood & even to this day I carry a sketch book around with me and am constantly scribbling down ideas and doodles for future pieces. Currently this is sketch book number 63. You can imagine that's a fair few sketch books that I had to buy a new bookshelf specifically for them. Speaking of books I read somewhere that Picasso was the most prolific painter of the 20th Century. I'm hoping to have an achievement like that! Influences! That's what I have forgotten to mention. Francis Bacon, Picasso, Adam Neate, Guy Denning & Antony Micallef! Great artists Great pieces of work, well worth checking out. I can't think of anything more to write at the moment so this will have to do. Enjoy!
