I've been taking photos for a long time, but got out the habit of using my old SLR many years ago (I think it's still in a drawer somewhere) since when I've been snapping, not photographing, using a wee pocket Digital, albeit quite a decent one, an Olympus Mju 410.

A while back though I upgraded slightly to a Fujifilm Finepix S5700 (not quite back at the SLR stage yet!) and I'm enjoying easing myself back into taking what I would hope would be the occasional decent image amongst some very ordinary ones! Since about 2009 I've had photos published on the BBC Website and in The Times newspaper, so I guess I'm occasionally getting it right (probably accidentally) although the one in The Times was actually taken in 1987..

I've lived in Motherwell (Lanarkshire), Streatham (London), Glasgow, Gateshead (Tyne & Wear), Morpeth (Northumberland), Johnstone (Renfrewshire) and Clydebank (West Dunbartonshire), so I have an interest in many areas of the UK.

As a general rule I try to make any photos showing my friends private if the people in them can be identified.
