"Lauren couldn't run any faster, she was losing, and it was not her fault. Her leg was tied to mine and the potato sack race was almost over. She was paired up with me since she was the homecoming queen and I was the star chess player. The homecoming committee thought it would be a good pairing to put beauty and brains together to see if they could win the 45th annual Potato Sack Race for a Cure held in South Pennsyltucky, Tx. In the lead 5ft ahead of us were Alison and Kumar (voted best eyes & most likely to star in a stoner movie, respectively), and their chemistry was obvious from their first step. Lauren and I spent the 10 minutes prior to the start arguing different photographic composition rules and how using direct sunlight to provide rim lighting and flare is artistic. But we overcame our differences in the last quarter mile (it was a 2.5 mile potato sack race) and put our differences behind us to win that race, and split the 12lb bag of jelly bean first prize. I came to find out later that Lauren is not only a great mom, but her energy, enthusiasm and natural glow comes through in all her photos and in her life. It's a honor to have her as a friend. I just wish she wouldn't' have worn those high heels during our race, because I still have my limp 12 years later."
