My work reflects the changes I observe in environments and objects over time, through the processes of aging, wear and use. A decline of the man-made order is contrasted by the buildup of texture, character and richness. In the process of making art, I am interested in gathering those materials and objects – the cast off, the forgotten, the incidental, the profound – and through combining and layering, capture the essence of what I see and feel.

Using found and discarded objects inspires me to redeem them and give them new meaning and purpose. There is a nurturing act that comes from giving attention to life’s leftovers. As materials are rescued and given a new appreciation, it gives hope for people who need a second chance.
