I rather let my images speak on my behalf, but here a little bio: I am German and moved to NY two years ago after studying film studies in Hamburg. My first job in NY was to work as an assistant to an eyewear designer. After that ended I worked briefly as a personal assistant to a well known model, switched over to be a photo assistant for six months, which wasn't what I was hoping for, and after working on a friend's movie in LA for two months came back to New York to pursue my own photography.
I started with shooting myself, but am expanding and trying to apply what I have learned to other subjects than me. Why shooting myself? It started out to being an experiment, having the freedom to do whatever and not having to justify myself in the process of what I am doing. The results are quite pleasing (I think) My pictures are often described as narcissistic, but when looking I them I don't even see myself in them, since they are staged. In the process of photographing myself I try to express different aspects of myself that might be less present on a day to day basis. What is often overlooked is that, yes, I might have be pleasing to look, but also I bring to the images a sense of composition, lighting, sensuality and storytelling. Having said this I am not presenting my images as advertisement for myself, but rather for my photography. I am not here to meet other guys, but rather to meet other photographers or people interested in the photography aspect of my work.
