There is a peace movement in Iraq!
LaOnf (which translates as "No Violence" in Arabic) is a network of Iraqi civilians who are committed to nonviolence and united in their belief that a peaceful future for Iraq depends upon empowering local peace and reconciliation efforts and strengthening Iraqi civil society. The network connects civil society organizations, trade unions, and associations from across Iraq’s ethnic groups and religions, including Kurdish, Sunni, Shiite, Assyrian and Turkeman. Started in 2006, over 100 organizations from all 18 Iraqi governorates are now part of LaOnf.
