Welcome to my photostream!!! My name is Darlene, and I'm an amateur photographer. My husband, Mike, and I reside in the Midwest and are both full-time professionals who enjoy reading & traveling in our spare time. We have traveled to a number of different places over the years, including New York, the Florida Keys, New Orleans, the Carribean, Ontario, Canada, and the Great American West (South Dakota, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, & New Mexico).

We made our first trip out west in September 2005, visiting the Black Hills of South Dakota; the Badlands; Grand Teton National Park; Yellowstone National Park; and Rocky Mountain National Park. One trip was all it took for the two of us to decide where we belong, and the rest is history.

Since that first trip, we have returned to the west at least two times a year, sometimes three. If we could both retire tomorrow, there is no doubt where we would be headed to spend our remaining time on this earth. Such pure, natural, unspoiled beauty out west; a far cry from all the development and overcrowding in the more urban areas of our country.

When we made our first trip out west, the only camera we had was a small Canon point & shoot with a 3X optical zoom. We quickly discovered that our poor little camera was not nearly enough to capture the true beauty of the landscape, nor did it have the reach to photograph all the great wildlife opportunities that abound in and around our national parks. As you can well imagine, planning for our next trip included purchasing a spotting scope and a new DSLR. I decided on a Nikon D70s (affordable at the time) after completing much research and have not been disappointed since. Last year, I added a Sony DSC H9 Cybershot to my arsenal and have been extremely satisfied with the quality & clarity of the images. And finally, prior to our trip to the Southwest in September 2009, I upgraded from my Nikon D70s to a D90....what a great camera....full format is next on the list along with a 500 or 600mm lens.

My passion is for wildlife photography; although, I must admit that I equally enjoy photographing landscapes. My goal is to someday refine my skills enough to market some of my images. All the more reason to move out west, so I can practice, practice, practice :-)

Please feel free to browse through my sets &collections. I welcome any constructive criticism, ideas, suggestions, etc.

"Darlene is the person you wish you could travel with because you will want to experience the nature she captures. I don’t know if it’s luck, but she sees and experiences such beauty in her trips. She captures absolutely amazing photos and are quite unique from others and so well done. She truly is a student for everything she ever does and wants to master the arts. This will guarantee an absolute wonderful experience for you if you make her one your contacts, trust me you won’t be disappointed. I will always be looking forward to her images."
