Dress Codes: Clothing as Metaphor in Contemporary Art.
Toward the end of the 20th century, many artists seized upon the idea and form of clothing as a subject for their work. Cothing today can be a metahpor for larger issues such as feminist concerns, racial sterotyping, current events, and the violence of war. The 40 works in Dress Codes: Clothing as Metaphor in Contemporary Art highlight contemporary artists' interest in the human body while also offering personal, social, cultural, political, and ethnic critiques.

The Labels Project installation performance sets out to serve as a metaphor of travel, capable of taping memories of time and place to reveal a sense of unspoken collective identity.
This work in progress sculpture relies on the conventions and familiarity of clothing to communicate and uncover a greater sense of self. Label-gazing, becomes here, a valid geographical-psychological challenge. The viewer’s interpretation belies his personal notions about geographical provenance, time and memory. This project seeks to foster communication and broader cultural understanding by exposing and informing our instincts about brand.
