I shoot pictures with anything I can get my hands on. I own a few old and inexpensive film cameras and I've been borrowing various digital cameras from people and shooting when I can. I took a hiatus from the darkroom for about a year and a half after my son died and I just got back into the darkroom this past fall. My task this spring will be working on catching up on developing all my film and scanning the pics in. All my film cameras are ebay bargains except my holga, bought new last summer from Randy at holgamods.com. i highly recommend him.
Below is the history behind my screen name (if you care).
I just found this article on the web (link expired) that tells a little about my grandmother who died when my mom and her twin brother were in high school.
"Ruth Campbell Williams is almost forgotten by today's collectors. Known as "Darcy" in the doll world, she was editor of Doll News when she died September 25, 1957, in St. Luke's Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio. Darcy was multi-talented. She wrote for both adults and children. She was interested in history, poetry, and philately. She enjoyed painting, ceramics, and wood-carving.
Queen Victoria was one of her passions and she had gathered an extensive library on the great lady of yore. Darcy's interest in Victoria inspired her to create wooden dolls of the queen as a child, a young lady, and a mature woman.
She also designed the well-known "Holly Dolls" with Helen Bullard. These wooden dolls were carved by mountain women in Ozone, Tenn., as a "spare time" project, during the winter months.
It was during this creative period that Mrs. Williams started calling herself "Darcy." She belonged to three doll clubs and a philately group, and often gave talks about dolls and stamps. She wrote many articles for Spinning Wheel, Toy Trader, etc. She was very interested in the United Federation of Doll Clubs, Inc., and gave it her all, even when moving her family from Chagrin Falls, Ohio, to New Castle, Pa. Everything was an adventure for her.
Darcy was born Ruth Campbell Williams in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 21, 1905. She attended and graduated from Shaw High School, the Cleveland Art Institute, and the Western Reserve University where she earned a B.A. degree. She married Charles Williams in New York on October 10, 1931. They had twins, Eric and Jennifer.
Very few of Darcy's friends knew how ill she was until her disease reached the stage where she could no longer write. She was contemplating an encyclopedia on wooden dolls, since she had done so much research on the subject. Unfortunately, she died before the project was realized."
