Hey there! My name is Zoie Pulkka, I'm 17, and I'm a wanna-be photographer.

It surprises me how much photography has grown on me. When I started with my first camera in June of 2006, I was just taking pictures for the sake of taking pictures. I was excited. The Sony Cybershot certainly wasn't a bad camera. In fact, it was great, compared to what I had previously... that being nothing. I just wasn't trying to do anything with it. I just wanted to take pictures. I was (and still am) absolutely in love with my cat, so my photo-stream was filled with (crappy) photos of her. Every picture I took, I wanted uploaded. At the time, my computer didn't have a convenient way of getting my pictures off my camera, so my mom was in charge of getting them off and putting them up on flickr. I started to notice she wasn't uploading all of them. We had a long talk about how she was glad I was getting interested in taking pictures, but she wished I would focus a bit more on the quality than just randomly pointing and shooting. I was upset at first, but I soon started trying a lot harder. And it's now starting to pay off. In February of 2007 on my birthday, I got a new camera. A Lumix DMC-F27 from Panasonic. For my 13th birthday, I recieved the Canon Rebel XTi body and the money to buy a lens. My list of weapons has just been increasing since then.

I used to want to be an actress. Then I wanted to own a horse-ranch and act. Then I added writing to my agenda, followed by playing an instrument, singing, and writing songs for a band. Now I'm mainly obsessing over photography. The other things are still pretty big hobbies. I do not plan to really give up any of them, but I'm not going to be as serious about them. Although, I still definitely want to be involved in community theater. I'm kind of addicted to it...

Other things I enjoy are roleplaying, horseback riding, reading, hanging out with my animals, chillin' with my friends, listening to music, and eating sushi. My favorite band is The Beatles. I've passed the level 3 Japanese Language Proficiency test. I've also recently started doing photo-shoots for people too. I'm finding they're more stressful to schedule than they are to do. Once I'm there with my camera all set up, helping my model get ready, they're so much fun. I'm looking forward to doing many, many more.

If you've read all of this, you deserve a round of applause.

I'm a kid so please don't post any comments that would be inappropriate for me to read. Also, do not be offended if I do not friend you if you have done so to me. I have to get approval from my parents before I can do that. Please don't even suggest for me to friend you if you post pictures that would not be appropriate for me to view. And you don't have to add me if I add you. I will not feel rejected. I'm an admin for the group Homeschooled Photography!, a photo group for homeschoolers. It's an invitation only group, so let me know if you are interested. I also run a group called Minnesota Teens, a group for kids 18 and under who live in Minnesota. And one last thing... if you add me on facebook, please let me know that you're adding me because you found me on flickr. Thanks! ♥

I am so glad to have met her on flickr. She inspires and encourages me to take new and better photos everytime I look at her photostream. She's also a really great person, even though we've never met, I know that we'd be great friends if we did =]"

"ZAP has an astonishing eye--an astonishingly sensitive and perceptive eye and a remarkably intuitive sense of framing. I learn a lot about how to "see" by looking at her photos (and what she saw). For example - the picture she took of a peacock--isn't the whole bird (a rather ungainly animal), instead she chose to show the essence--a closeup of an overlay pattern of irridescent feathers---now THAT says peacock!

We also share a love of animals and horses--and her animal photos also get to the essence.

    Keep up the good work!"

"Zap is a horse-crazy young lady, wise beyond her years and flaunting a great sense of humor. Her photos reflect her deep compassion for animals and it is obvious to any animal lover who visits her stream that she also has an intuition towards them that only a few of us ever experience. She understands what they need. She sees the nuances of character that even their owners might miss. Its a gift and her photos and comments reflect that gift.
I was especially drawn to her site because we share a deep love of horses and i was pleasantly surprised to find a very confident, intelligent, funloving and interesting teenager who says i inspire her but who also inspires me.
I know Zap would love to be a Cowgirl and i hope she gets the opportunity to live that dream. Take a ride through her photostream...you wont be disapointed! Sweet Zap... I always look forward to hearing your take on my pics.....your never boring!! Hope you spend many joyful years riding YOUR Cadoc into the future."
