In this second world I am not here to satisfy myself through roleplay. In my whole 4+ years of roleplaying I have seen many type of roleplayers. I have seen their ugly face showing up in their writing like a mirror.
First of all they say there is something like 'elitists'. There is NONE in reality. People who think they are elitists are the most insecure people. They lack self-respect thus they can`t show respect to others. They usually lack self confidence thus they create a personality that looks/sounds/writes *too* confident. An elite person does not try too hard to show how elite s/he is. It is shown through their character not by roleplay. Now you have to accept that there is nothing like elitists roleplay in a virtual word.
Second all this 'dark roleplay' subject that has been a gum to mouths for many years. There are characters that fit the best to dark stories. My example of a great dark story would be Pan`s Labyrinth. A real dark character doesn`t have to be forced pure evil. This is thin-ice imo. There are many forced characters that think they have to act as most bad-ass to make others think they are 'ebil'. If a scene does not flow naturally, if a character does not act naturally but forcefully to look like the most bad ass it fails as a dark character. If you are trying **too** hard you are doing soemthing wrong. I have seen a lot of rp`s who promote themselves as 'bad ass ebil' while all day do is to have sexual roleplay, get drunk in an rp bar, get beaten by their boyfriends/beat their girlfriends , get pregnant , live in a shabby trailer , cheat on their partner , give birth to their prim baby , still get drunk in a bar , throw some coke in for good measure, have picnics in parks and when time comes their prim baby grows up and they start playing their off spring and repeat the same scenario again but don`t forget the thoughts emotes/insults/snotty comments they make all the time then put things like " don`t thought insult me" in their profile as a warning. Doesn`t that sound too much like real life?
Why I don`t like roleplaying going to a bar to get social and get drunk then have sex ? Cause I can do them in real life and I don`t feel the thrill to play it out in roleplay. After all isn`t it too boring to live a fake life through roleplay?(and one seen as a tragical one; almost feels like the people who have to sustain their lives in difficult conditions and forced poverty?) I already live my 'real' life and (used to) hop on SL to play a crazy maniac as a character that even suprised me sometimes while I wrote. It satisfied me to write with people who shared the same ideals as mine when it came to roleplay.
What I think is a "real" roleplayer ;
1- Doesn`t live a life through rp so when something happens IC they don`t take it personal.
2- Plays out stories that are hard to play or create stories that is not possible to happen in reality.
3- Stays true to their character. Doesn`t act white one scene and turn black the other scene for ooc reasons.
4- Doesn`t satisfy their 'ego' in a second life through computer.
5- Always shows courtesy to other roleplay styles, others writing and don`t bitch about how others should be playing their character in their posts with thought emotes.
