PiXistenZ. Get yours at bighugelabs.com/flickr

A girlfriend's father once put a Nikon FE in my hands. This camera from 1978 is a classic, but what did I know? I never used or touched a camera in my life! I can only remember this great feeling I had when I held it. The first time I tried shooting pictures, someone had to point out that there wasn't any film inside the camera.

I consider my work eclectic because I'm trying (or am going to try) all kinds of styles in every possible way you can imagine. I hope this will not turn you off, but instead, that you can appreciate the variety in styles, processing, moods and subjects.

Feel free to comment or write me if you have any questions.

"While looking for good portraits, I stumbled across your photo stream and really enjoyed looking at your recent photographs. I’m a novice in photography so I wouldn't be able to comment on the technique, but I really liked your style and the simple and peaceful—sometimes playful—feelings that come from your portraits.
Now, after a bit more than one year of baby steps in photography, I want to build up my confidence and start doing portraits (for fun, with friends and family), and was looking for examples and inspiration. Thank you for providing some. :)"

"PIXistenz, you have the "touch" :)
Your comprenshion of the Light, Colour, Shapes and Art goes way behind the ordinary photographer.
You opened my mind how Light can work the way I like
I won´t write much more, just because I´m not english native, otherwise I'd fill an A4 sheet lol
Sorry for taking so long writing this testimonial, it's deserved for a long time.
If you ever travel to Portugal, please feel free to flickrmail me, with most pleasure I could tip or advice around here.

"Kris' work is simply fantastic. He has an amazing eye for shapes, shadows, and light. Combined with his obvious mastery for creating mood using subtle (or not so subtle in some cases) editing and post-processing of photographs, this creates images that capture the imagination. I've viewed Kris' photostream end-to-end a few times, and there's not a bad image in there."

"The artist in question admits to not having used film cameras for long. Yet, when I look at these pictures, I see a lot of film-like qualities and a mastery of composition that I suspect come from a great deal of time spend studying the old masters (at least I hope so - an individual who can do so without enjoys clearly an unfair advantage in talent to the rest of us). Eventually, his style is undeniably his own, and I applaud him for sharing such many pieces of art with us."

    gh0stdot says:

"PiXistenz appreciates colour in much the same spirit as Christopher Doyle in the films of Wong Kar-Wai and there is indeed a filmic quality to many of his images. He makes thoughtful use of an often blurred foreground against the elements deeper into the picture producing - in his mouse-eye views of fields in particular - a lyrical and elegaic tone from a seemingly bland and unpromising view that most would not think of lifting their camera to. Judging from the moniker: he also should get a brownie point for being a Cronenberg fan."
