I hope as you peruse the photographs on my sites, your eyes will be opened once more to the extraordinary beauty of the natural world that surrounds us every day, even in places we may not think to look.



Photography has been in my consciousness from birth, I'm sure, as my father and his brothers always seemed to have a camera around their necks when any family got together. When I was about 12, my mother gave me her old 110 film camera, and I still remember those first pictures I took of winter snowdrifts in New York, where I grew up. It was only a short time until I realized my subject matter was always something in nature!

In high school, I was given an anonymous gift of a 35 mm camera and accessories, which launched me fully into photography. I found that I loved the process of trying to make artistic images from natural subjects. I devoured every photography book in the library.

It has been just over 15 years since those days, but the principals I learned about lighting and composition have stayed with me and shaped my photography.

Currently, I work mainly with a Panasonic Lumix FZ50. The best part of this camera is using the 12x optical zoom, without the weight of a huge lens. I've taken over 11,000 photos with this camera and still enjoying it. Prior to the Panasonic, I used a small Sony Cybershot camera, which served me well through over 10,000 photographs.
