Krijn van Noordwijk has been a photographer (and occasional director) since 2006. Krijn's portrait work combines graphic but classical aesthetics with a contemporary view on people and their emotions. Inspired by (in no particular order) Jimi Hendrix, Irving Penn, Rembrandt van Rijn, DJ Krush, Piet Mondriaan, George Hurrell, Johannes Vermeer, Rory Gallagher, David Carson, Annie Leibovitz, Johnny Burnette, Gottfried Helnwein, Carl Fischer, Dead Prez, Charles Saatchi, David Lachapelle, The Beatnuts, Tony Scott, Joel Peter Witkin, Jurassic Five, Art Kane, Andy Warhol, Stefan Sagmeister, Leo Fender, Francis Bacon, Man Ray, Philippe Halsman, Donald Duck and many many others.

Krijn's work is featured in many magazines in the Netherlands and in ad campaigns for brands like Heineken, Philips, Audi, KPN Hi Telecom, Supperclub, Beatport, Amsterdam Dance Event and many others.

In previous lives, Krijn has worked as a creative director in several advertising agencies, winning numerous awards while having a great time. He founded his own creative shop 'LABORATORIVM' in 1996. In this lab art, music, graphics and advertising were all mixed. He was a board member in the ADCN, the Dutch Art Directors Club, as well as the ADCE, the Art Directors Club Europe. Also, Krijn has been a jury member in many creative award shows, like the Dutch ADCN 'Lamp' Awards, the Cannes Lions and ADCE. In 2006 Krijn broke away to focus on photography.

f you must know: a Canon Eos 5D Mark ll, a Canon Eos 1Ds mark ll as a second, mostly with the EF 24-105 1:4 L IS or the Canon EF 50 mm 1.8 (cheap but brilliant) lenses mounted and for lighting a set of 3 Hedler C12 continuous 1250 watt lamps, some umbrellas, some spun, a white bed sheet to bounce into. Some Lastolite collapsibles. And oh yeah, a very stupid plasticky Korean or Chinese 3-head Jinbei flash set I hardly ever work with. I like continuous.
