Vogelmeisje 365. Get yours at bighugelabs.com

While reducing natural beauty to numbers on excel sheets for work, and trying to find "facts" in those (and loving it!), photography teaches me to look for just the beauty of things and keeps me focused on that beauty. Every day I love how this relaxes me and makes me happy. I see so much more!

Through a friend, I started the 365 self portrait project in January 2009. That too forces me to focus for half an hour a day on what that day meant to me, and how I'd like to capture it. A moment of introspection, which again relaxes me and helps me to digest all that life has to offer. Plus it helps me explore and accept all different parts of me, and makes that I remember all the little things so much better.

But most of all, I've really come to love this little community here on Flickr. This group of people who tries to capture and share and inspire. People who on a daily basis take a little time to leave a thoughtful note or a bit of support for someone else. People who bring a smile to my face. It's beautiful. Thank you!

"This is one of those testimonial's that is long overdue. When I first found Sandra's stream I was immediately captivated by her self portraits. Her ability to convey emotion is truly remarkable. I was also drawn to her nature shots and her passion for the world around her. I became enthralled with her country and couldn't wait to see an upload with a windmill in the background! I've followed her through good times and bad and feel a little bit as though she could be my daughter :) I worry about her when she travels and cheer her on in her studies and tough days. She's one of those people that I would dearly love to meet some day. She is a sweet and gentle woman and she is a wonderful friend (if only in flickr land) to me. Thank you Sandra for sharing your world with us. We are better for it!"

"There is just something about Sandra's photos that make them captivating, warm and uplifting. I can't always put my finger on what it is, but it's there. Her work gives a sense of calm that takes you to another world. Her kind spirit and her positivity come flowing through her work and it has made her one of my favorite Flickr photographers."

"Her first comment made me smile, as if I already knew her for a while. Love the pureness of her stills. But don't ignore her sense of humor and photoshop skills. Peppermint coffee and nature in spring..she will always fly with her butterfly wings."

"She seems like a friend, which is silly because we never met. That is what Flickr can do, apparently. No, let me rephrase that: that's what a vogelmeisje on Flickr can do. She offers us a glimpse of her life. Her pictures are very personal, imaginative and "fairy-ish"..."
