Yes, I use a Creative Commons License - and the one I use allows you to use and modify what I post for non-commercial use, provided you attribute me. For commercial use of my images, contact me. I'm reasonable - I just maintain the license so that you know to contact me. Pretty simple.

I do contract work in many aspects of Informational Technology, and am a published writer (though more writer than published). I run www.your2ndplace.com and in January 2008 I will be diversifying my writing a bit more with my own personal site - name to be announced.

As far as explaining what I take pictures of...

I try it all.

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects. -- Robert Heinlen

Why all the pictures of birds?

You can know the name of a bird in all the languages of the world, but when you're finished, you'll know absolutely nothing whatever about the bird... So let's look at the bird and see what it's doing -- that's what counts. I learned very early the difference between knowing the name of something and knowing something. -- Richard Feynman.

Thus, the project Birds of San Fernando Hill (Trinidad and Tobago) - started in December 2007.

Why do I take pictures of odd things I have done? One never knows.

Why do I take so many pictures?

The present is theirs; the future, for which I really worked, is mine. -- Nikola Tesla

And finally, I borrowed someone else's motto:

Criticize by creating. -- Michelangelo

"Taran is a wonderful photographer! I love the way he makes a simple situation come alive in a photo. All the things we take for granted around us looks so beautiful and spectacular in his photo shoots. Keep up the great work Taran!"
