well hello there. i'm cristina. i'm a scorpio, a big sister, a lover of music, travel and art.

welcome to my virtual studio. here you'll find the fruit of my creative labor...expressed digitally and by analogue captured through the lenses of many different types of cameras - all of which hold a special place in my life.

i'll start a list here.
cameras, like paint + brushes are a photographers medium and as i've slowly expanded my collection, the information i've found here, on flickr, has been incredibly helpful. so, to give back to this community, i'll list as much information as i can to assist you in your own search. please feel free to send me a note should you need additional insight into my experiance with any of the cameras listed below.

Nikon FE
this is a very basic manual camera with a built in light meter that runs on batteries. the camera is perfect for learning to control exposure, speed + composition. this particular camera holds a very special place in my collection as it was a gift from grandfather and ignited my passion for photography, particularly analogue.

Polaroid 600
i can't remember the price of this one, it was purchased from Costco in 2005.
it's a simple point and shoot that uses discontinued film. i took this camera along with me on my 6 week backpacking trip in korea, indonesia and japan to help with my photo-a-day project. each photo taken was given to the subject...and then taken again for my memory book. someday, i'll post the book here.

Nikon Coolpix S6
gift for my birthday a few years ago.
this is another simple point + shoot 35mm digital camera that produces exceptionally high quality images. it's small + slim and great to carry to functions where a large bulky slr creates too much of a distraction. my favorite feature about this camera is it's ability to take excellent macro shots.

Nikon D40
A recent christmas gift from my parents. 2009
i can't say enough about this digital slr 35mm camera. extremely high quality with wide versatility + control without the fuss + confusion of some of nikon's fancier models. besides the fact that nikon's lenses are interchangable, the best part about this camera is that it's considerably light in comparison to it's D siblings.

Holga 120N
$30 from San Francisco Photoworks
holga o' holga, how i love thee. holga served as my gateway into the medium format world. this simple, cheap toy camera produces suprising images with a low-fi quality. too interesting for words, do a couple google searches and see for yourself.

Lubitel 166 Universal
$81 on eBay

Kiev 60 SLR
$116 on eBay

Rolleiflex T 3.5 TLR Tessar
$285 on eBay

Vivitar Wide + Slim Ultra
$27 on eBay

Yashica Samurai 4.0
Approx. $40 on eBay
1/2 frame camera from the 1980's. A "half-frame" camera is a camera that takes two photos per one 35mm frame. It's a camera that allows you to create interesting comparison or pairing images within one print.

Kodak Tourist II
$26 on eBay
this is a really neat looking camera and is only used as a display peice in my happy home.

Polaroid Land Camera 95A
$35 on eBay
this is another for-display-only peice. i cant get enough of those interesting bellows.

just like the tools i use to express myself, i love the many things that surround me....
- san francisco
- my home, my studio, my work
- city train systems
- my books (even the ones that I haven't read yet)
- strange things from japan
- my collection of glues + scissors
- cuckoo clocks
- vintage fabric (well....vintage anything, really)
- babies + puppies (interacting with eachother)
- the sun

interesting things i love in this life of mine
- the word "ain't", althought i haven't figured out a way to use in a natural way.
- relentlessly honest people
- children and their many questions
- a good boss
- sisters
- anything synchronized or expressed in unison (swimming, skating, dancing, singing, etc...)
- the forgiving love of a good set of parents
- home exchanges
- collaborative art projects
- sneezing + yawning
- the freedom to ask a lot of questions
- the creative exchange i get here, from you, my flickr friends
