I’m in my 50s and a long-time London (UK) resident. For over 40 years I’ve attended live music events (my first three gigs in Nov 1968 in the space of a few days were John Mayall, Muddy Waters and Cream). My tastes cover a variety of different styles, including traditional British and Irish Folk; American Roots music particularly that emanating from Texas, New Orleans/Louisiana and Appalachia (e.g. Blues, Old time, Cajun, Bluegrass, traditional Country, 50s style R and B); Jazz, and various strands of so-called World Music.

Over the years I’ve had a number of SLR cameras, but very rarely took them to live music events (perhaps some day I’ll sort through those I did take to see if there any worth digitalising). I bought my first digital camera in 2010 and have become addicted to gig photography. This site will show some of the results.

It will be difficult to show the full range of styles and artists I lam interested in. Firstly, as I have bought a relatively cheap compact, the focus will be on outdoor events. Most of the photos I’ve taken indoors have been adequate at best. Secondly, quite a few of the places I regularly listen to music (both large halls and small clubs) would object if I turned up with a camera. Still I’ll do my best.

Update Jan 2011:
I have now bought a digital SLR. I'll take either this or my compact along to gigs as seems most appropriate.
I've had a look through my old prints and negatives. As I expected there are very few worth reviving for this site. However, I'll gradually get those which are worth another look digitised over the coming months.
