klsanderson's photostream
|
I was a choreographer/director/performer for 23 years;
I am now a former chor/dir/perf (for the last 10 or so);
6'2” tall;
to paraphrase Julia Child, I am “Having a good time.”
My venue has changed, but I am still a visual imagist, I'm just choreographing images to paper and screen rather than to performance.
And I am a beginning photographer.
The Flickr community feels like an almost infinite set of performances – innovative, inspiring, awe-some, disturbing, volatile, exquisite, heartbreaking, laugh-out-loud-and-make-stuff-come-out-yer-nose funny…
It displays the power of imagery and the people who make it to move us, one at a time!
I thank you for your visit to my stream. I appreciate your comments, and the valuable time it takes to write them. I value your constructive criticisms; your interpretations and associations.
I often fall behind on responding to comments in my stream, please forgive, it's your own fault(s) for pulling me toward long stretches gazing at your images! I thoroughly enjoy visiting your streams, and thank you for invitations to come for a look-see.
Katherine

BTW - do not make me a contact and/or "fave" an image of mine if you do not have any images available to me, AND you do not have any profile, AND you do not have any contacts... that doesn't give me anything to indicate your intentions ... in other words, sharing access to images is about SHARING access to images... I have been blocking members as soon as this occurs.

"I'm completely blown away by Katherine's work. Haunting. Exceptionally stirring composition. Texture-fixation. Potent use of depth-of-field. These photos -- almost every single one of them -- move me. Thanks Katherine. Your work is astounding.

The hills are alive (taking time off......) says:
"Amazing artist, both with straight photography and with photoshop. The latter is an unkind master, the further you explore its offerings, the more easily you create unspeakable kitch. But Katherine has tamed the esoteric highways and byways of ps - and pulls out of her hat the most fantastically unexpected, enchanting and delightful images. Her imagination is endless, and she harnesses her skills to that imagination with genius. I just watch in total awe. It is a joy to have her on flickr."

"Katherine is one of my earlier flickr friends, I first came across her work when I chose one of her beautiful photos as our daily icon at TWTME's (and I still remember it vividly), since that day I have been a huge fan. Each of her finely crafted and often multi-layered masterpieces is full of meaning and atmosphere that leave you thinking long afterwards.
Katherine, you are such a supportive and kind friend and colleague and a constant inspiration, I wish I had a tiny amount of your imagination.

"Every one of Katherine's photos tells a story. She masterfully applies just the right amount of post processing to establish the perfect mood, which always coordinates seamlessly with her subject matter. Far and away one of the most diverse and thought-provoking photostreams on Flickr."

Nesster says:
"To my eye Katherine's art is all about the involution of surface and light, the way space and time keeps folding into itself and thereby creates a whole new surface structure. Elementary particles dancing. The bellows of subconscious entities as they physically -and with great force- knead the familiar into shapes that recall... something at the tip of consciousness.
But apart from that, her pieces are good to look at with just the right dollop of indeterminate about them - whether in the pic, or about just how Katherine managed to create the effect. I like to think I've learned from her work..."5th July, 2007

Lucretius says:
"Every so often someone decides to be spectacular. It's rare and beautiful, and Miss Sanderson has done so and then decided to be unbelievable and incredible as well. Her work is unknowable and yet touches the audience on a very personal and exposing way. She is a treasure of modern art and a treasure of humanity."

solarider says:
"Katherine is one of the most original and interesting artists I have come across on Flickr. Her work is consistently original and often thought provoking. She produces the most amazing compositions and take what would be a simple picture in anyone else's hands and morphs into to so many directions that often there are no words to describe the result. I can't find enough superlatives to describe her work - and I suspect anyone else exploring her photostream will find themselves drawn in and unable to escape either. Consider this a good thing!"

redtieguy says:
"Katherine has embarked on a journey of self-discovery through the photographic medium, and the strange entities she has encountered or dredged up speak to me of the inescapable necessity of being ourselves.
Her work is amazingly consistent, evoking moods that range from melancholy compositions to quirky, enigmatic snapshots. This is the reason for my frequent visits to her stream. I do not come here because it is a dark place. I come for the flame that burns in darkness, and for the life behind the mask."2nd October, 2006

"A truly talented artist. Photographs which inspire reverie- memories, ideas, fragments of thought, at once impelling and compelling, and doubly difficult to try to characterise, as words cannot do justice to this wonderful, lyrical body of work."
