Thirty years ago I immigrated to Brazil - seven years I spent among Indians of Mato Grosso and the Amazon - with fishermen of the Northeast (Jangadeiros) I spent many nights at the open sea - I worked with gold-diggers and Gaúchos - served as a tourist guide in the Pantanal region - finally I am creating special adventure programs for an agency in Rio de Janeiro. Making photos is my hobby to satisfy my love to nature and my desire for creativity - which were always much bigger than my possibilities for a real good camera. But, as everybody knows, this is not the most important part !
YOUR SPECIAL ATTENTION PLEASE : After more than 3 years with the flickr-comunity I am finally sick and tired of those worthless "medal&stamp awards" under my photos without any personal word - which are incentivated by these group-exigencies for ascending several levels to get even more useless awards and medals ! So, I hope to get less but serious and personal comments about my work from now on. Hope you understand my point of view.

"Well, this testimonial is long overdue. I have been fascinated by Klaus' photographs for some time. I have special interest in Klaus' photos of the Amazon and its indigenous inhabitants.
Each posting is an adventure in itself. The photo quality, composition and rich colors are superb, reminding me how much we missed by moving away from film to digital photography.
In his photos, Klaus has registered a Brazil that was, a frontier that is vanishing as "progress" penetrates into the last great tropical forest on Earth. Klaus' photos are not nostalgic, they are simply thorough documents of a Brazil that few took time to notice, let alone document as Brazil marched on to the beat of globalization.
But Klaus' photos are not mere cold historical documents. Knowing the Amazon and some of its indigenosu residents myself, rarely have I seen such personal empathy expressed through photos.
Klaus has captured the moment and emotion in the lives of those he came in contact with during his ramblings through "Brasil profundo", those parts of Brazil which very few urban Brazilians ever had the chance to know, and never will.
I recently had the fortune to return to the Kamayurá village Klaus visited some time ago. Upon my return, I realized that Klaus had photographed some of the same individuals decades ago. Klaus photographed these individuals in a way that the very essence and dignity of their being came through loud and clear.
I also remember distinctly during the 1970s, years of the "Brazilian Miracle", reading about construction of the glorious TransAmazon highway. Later this highway was criticized by environmentalists as a path to rainforest destruction. But Klaus's photos do not take sides, they quite simply display the reality of this road and that of the Brazilians who assumed great personal risk to start new lives so far from home.
As a long-term guest in this fascinating country, I consider myself lucky to have discovered Klaus' unique photo stream. I look forward to discovering many more aspects of the real Brazil through Klaus' lens!"3rd November, 2010

"Klaus has been a friend on Flickr for some time now, and I just adore his work.
I find him both interesting and exciting, the way he delivers such a high quality of Photography and illustration in two languages amazes me.
The ' Crab catchers' and 'Brazillian indian' sets are Brilliant, an extensive record of tribe peoples lives, taking us through a journey that Klaus actually lived among them.. He has had lots of life experiences more than many will ever have in a lifetime.
This shows in his photography, a storytelling through pictures that draw you in.
I feel that Klaus has much to offer Flickr and has not been recognised enough for the wonderful images he delivers. They are life, love and wonder. I for one am touched to have made his aquaintance if only on Flickr, he has been ( and continues to be ) a big inspiration to me.
thank you Klaus for being a friend I value your comments and hope we will stay friends for a long time."3rd June, 2009

"Klaus D. Günther a photographer that I have been impressed by its high sensitivity in a special way to capture everyday moments of each scene that shows us.
Your photo becomes documentary and achieves record scenes that illustrate a traditional culture within its proper context.
Also on an individual basis in many of his photographs are harmony and balance, and portrays in an instant is recorded an image that encapsulates the life of a people in a beautiful picture postcard.
Congratulations on your excellent work that I have been excited by his great achievement. ariel resendiz"28th May, 2008
