New Orleans artist, Kitty O'Meallie was born in South Carolina, received her fine arts degree from Newcomb Art School (Tulane University). She studied Advanced Painting at Newcomb for an additional four years. She has had 29 major exhibitions, among them four solo museum shows. She has won 13 awards and special honors, among them a WYES-TV (New Orleans) documentary. In 2003 she was the winner of the Cover Art Contest for the North Carolina Continuing Care Reference Guide.
O'Meallie's painting are in the permanent collections of the New Orleans Museum of Art, Meridian Museum, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, Masur Museum, Tulane University, Wake Forest University, Houston Athletic Center, New Orleans Public Library and many other public and private sites. She is listed in Who's Who of American Women and various other references. She has been represented by galleries in New Orleans, Dallas, Winston-Salem, Lake Charles, LA, and Georgetown, SC.
In 1995 the artist received a grant commissioning her to produce nine paintings depicting the history of Christian music. These are permanently installed in a 40-foot space in an auditorium of the St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church. O'Meallie presently lives & paints in Cary, NC and is a member of the Fine Arts League of Cary.
