A birder AND a geek (well maybe that's redundant?). Pity my poor wife. :-)
One of my most favorite things is to turn people onto birding. One of my most favorite times is when my mentor, Bob Power, giggles when one of his newbie students falls in love with a new bird. I don't giggle, I smile, but the appreciation is the same. If I can be of any help with birding, bird photography, or bird conservation, I'd love to hear from you. Drop me note on flickr mail, and unless I'm in the wilderness, I generally respond within a day.
I often go birding/photographing with fellow flickr-ite Bill Walker. If you're into fabulous flight shots of birds check out two of the masters - people I'm also lucky enough to call friends: Don Metzner (aka hearman) and Doug Lloyd.
I am a member of the board of Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society. If you would like to use my pictures to further the cause of bird conservation, please send me a mail at either the address below, or on my flickr account, along with whom you are, and how you intend to use the image, and I will most happily send you a high-resolution image. If you would like to use the pictures for commercial use, the tax-deductible licensing fees are donated to Audubon to help them conserve and protect wild habitat.
Please respect my intellectual property. In 2007, on a visit to Carmel, California's numerous art galleries, I saw some interesting poster-sized bird photos that had been processed using a Photoshop "pointilist" filter. Slowly it dawned on me that the photos were mine! The thief had downloaded my pictures from flickr, photoshop'ed them, signed them with his own name, and put them up for sale as his own work. Fortunately, the art gallery owner was understanding and immediately took the pictures down and out of sale. After that incident, and with all the legal repercussions, I VERY reluctantly decided to speak out. So here goes:
If a thief uses my work for their own commercial benefit without permission, they are stealing from contributions to the hard-working staff of Audubon. In those circumstances, unfortunately, I am morally forced to prosecute. The resulting compensatory damages are of course donated to Audubon. So please, make a difference that matters. If you would like to use one of my photos (and I sure hope you like at least one!) get a license, donate to Audubon, and sleep well at night, knowing you've helped to conserve and protect wild habitat. Thanks!
I hope these photos inspire you to connect with nature, today, and everyday. As birders say, "good birding" :-)

metaphors says:
"Ashok is an amazingly talented and passionate bird photographer. His photos speaks for themselves and I don't have to say more on that. What I like especially about him is his genuine interest in helping and guiding other new fellow photographers and he does so with a pure heart without expecting anything back in return. I admire that quality in him very much. He also is one of the very few who really cares and believes about protecting the wildlife and not just photographing them. You inspire me a lot Ashok, and Flickr members are fortunate to see your photos here."
